Our new blog

Thanks for checking out our new blog.  I will post updates about the shelter, events, rescues etc. here to try and keep you updated on P4P.  Since we moved to our new shelter at the Warren Billhartz Animal Shelter alot has happened.  It has been huge amount of work but things are going very well.  The first few months since we moved in on Aug. 1 required alot of work on everyone.  The teamwork has paid off and we have been able to take the euthanasia rate at WBAS from 67% of all animals taken in to 5% in 2 months.  Animal control had to euthanize 8 animals due to severe injuries or illness where recovery was not possible or severe aggression.  Last year at the same time they euthanized 79 dogs and cats.
Our goal to open the low cost spay/neuter clinic within a year has already been realized.  On Nov. 1 we opened the clinic to the public and other shelters and rescues.  As of 11/19/10 we  have spayed and neutered 111 dogs and cats. There has been a wonderful response from the community.  We are also working with SNIP (Spay Neuter Illinois Pets) Alliance to get the word out and encourage people to get their pets done.  Please spread the word.
Thanks to all our staff and volunteers for your help and support to make the shelter and clinic work.  It couldn't have been done without everyone working together.  Lisa McCormick, Pres. and Founder, P4P
