After spending two weeks recuperating, Kisses has left us to go with Sue and Walt. Kisses was at the pound several weeks ago with a compound fracture of her back leg. It had been broken for some time and infection had set in. Dr. Ervin at Horseshoe Lake AH felt the only option to save Kisses was amputation so within hours of rescue the surgery was done.
When we got the call from animal control about Kisses they had said she was a Dalmatian. We called the Dalmatian rescue group, SpotSavers, for help since we had had way too many emergencies and surgeries in the last month. They said they would help with her medical costs and work on a foster home for her. When Kisses arrived at the shelter after surgery, it was determined she was not a Dalmatian at all but a rat terrier mix with spots. We emailed SpotSavers back to tell them thanks anyway but Kisses was not a Dal and to our surprise they still said they would help! On Sunday after her surgery, Sue and Walt came to see Kisses. They volunteer for SS. Kisses loved them and even though she was in pain she curled up on Sue's lap.
This last Monday Kisses got her stitches out and her surgical site was healed. On Friday Sue and Walt came to pick her up and Kisses was transferred over to SS. What a great bunch of people. Very awesome!!
We got an update from Sue and Walt and Kisses, aka Missey, is doing great. Sue said she was running and playing like she had all her legs. She has settled right in and thinks Walt is it. Big thank you to all who helped Kisses go from a hopeless, seriously injured pooch to one that is really enjoying her life again. Way to go Kisses!!
