In Memory of Grumpy

Grumpy aka Lincoln

Grumpy came to us from the pound and he was a little grumpy to say the least.  He seemed pretty sad and was not very trusting of anyone at first.  He was the perfect example of a really great dog at the pound that was not acting very nice with little chance of getting out of the pound.  Luckily we like crabby dogs-they are usually just scared.  So Grumps came to the shelter.  He was very cute so people wanted him.  He, however, did not want them.  He was adopted a few times and brought back because he was, well, Grumpy.  Then at the Dog Wash last year the perfect people came along.  We held our breath.  He didn't come back!  We just got word that Grumpy just passed away from cancer.  His family loved him and he was happy there.  After a life of feeling grumpy he got to spend his last year with people that adored him.  He finally got to know what a nice life was.  Thank you to the people that can look past a grumpy, matted, scared, sick little dog and see a wonderful potential.

This is what his family had to say.

About a year ago my wife & I adopted a little dog from you called Grumpy. He had been returned to your shelter a couple of times because of his attitude, apparently thus the name Grumpy. When we saw the posting we said he needed a home no matter what his attitude was! We immediately changed his name to Lincoln and he has been nothing but a blessing in our home. With a lot of patience and love he had become a great little dog. He passed away two days ago from cancer and we miss him terribly. I thought Partners for Pets would like to know. We will never regret adopting Lincoln.
