Mandy is Smiling :)

This is Mandy who was shot in the leg and left in the woods to die.  Lucky for her a very nice person found her and called Angie.  Mandy had a huge gaping hole on her leg right at the joint and she was in shock.  You could see the bone.  She was stabilized at the emergency clinic and then went to Horseshoe Lake Animal Hospital in the AM.  Dr. Ervin wasn't sure the leg could be saved.  There were broken chips in the leg.  It was so painful and infected.  The leg was cleaned and bandaged.  Off she went to a foster home who hadn't had to change such a bad wound.  I was on vacation.  Between Horseshoe, Angie and Lisa K the bandage was changed every day. Wet to dry dressings removed the infected, dead tissue.  Antibiotics helped to get rid of the infection.  Pain meds to help especially at dressing change time.  Slowly but surely the big hole filled in.  When I saw the wound it looked very good.  Clean, pink, healing.  Good job Angie and Lisa K! Next she went to Leighs' house and got some physicial therapy.  The joint was very stiff but she started putting weight on it.  Before you knew it she was in a trial for adoption.  This is her in her trial home.  Keep your fingers crossed.  Thanks to all who helped Mandy.
