Weekend Update-Sept. 24 & 25

Adoptions were a little down this weekend with 10 adoptions but you can't have weekends like the last two every week.  All in all it was a nice weekend.  Dog adoptions were the two girl pups-Mercedes and Lexus, Bruiser, and McKenna.  Kitties were Destin, Tide, Tayla, Marbles, Twist and Shout, and Princess.  Thunder and Lightning were to foster/trial homes as did Bruiser the Pug and Kinston the cocker.  We did get Gizmo returned this weekend.  Bummer. We were able to pull several new dogs from the pound and they are getting ready for their new homes.
We have two dogs awaiting heartworm treatment at the shelter-Winslow the Yorkie and Iris the Rat terrier.  Due to the shortage of heartworm treatment medication they are just in limbo til we can get the meds.  It would be really nice for them to go to a foster while we are waiting and during treatment.  If you are interested please let us know.  We also have two pooches here that have been here a while.  Sleepy and Bashful are both a little timid and would benefit from some one on one.

Sunday was the big 5K race for P4P at the Tri-township park.  Lots of runners and walkers showed up to help our shelter.  Many dogs came to participate too.  Roger Smith Photography Studio was there and took many picts that we will post on Facebook.  A fun time was had by all.  Big thanks to Lindsay, Laura, Dave and Sarah for putting on the 5K for us.  Amazing!
Next Sat., Oct. 1 is the Purina Pet Project at Purina Farm.  We will be attending with our dogs.  Should be fun so come out and help the local shelters.  There will be 30 shelters there with adoptable pets.  Everyone is asked to bring two items to donate.  All donations will be divided among the groups.
