Go Charlie!!!

This adorable little guy is Charlie. He came to us about 8 weeks ago from St. Clair County Pound. Someone saw him dragging himself along the side of the road and picked him up. He has no use in his back legs.  No one ever claimed him so Partners For Pets stepped in to get him. Charlie has gone to VSS in St. Louis and was seen by the neurology department. It was determined that his injury to his spine happened not too long ago, but unfortunately there is no surgery to fix it. He has no feeling from the middle of his back down and his bladder has to be expressed. He also developed a pretty bad pressure ulcer on his back leg due to lack of movement and circulation in his back leg.  As you can see, none of this has not dampened his spirit. Charlie was in need of a special orthopedic wheel chair to help keep his spine straight and help him get around more easily. Nancy, as well as some other very kind people, stepped up and helped buy Charlie his wheelchair.  It had to be special ordered and it took a few weeks to get.  It didn't take Charlie long to figure the chair out and now he can fly around the yard.  His nurse foster mom, Tara, took very good care of Charlie, healed his pressure sore and gave him lots of TLC.  Just this week Charlie went on a trial with a very wonderful person who wanted to make sure she could give Charlie everything he needs.  It didn't take long for her to know they were meant for each other.  Adopted!!!

A Labor of Love-Cleveland-Heath bakes "Pies for Partners"

When Jenny Cleveland of Cleveland-Heath,  a wonderful restaurant in Edwardsville, asked me if they could do a fund raiser for Partners For Pets I never dreamed what that would entail.  She wanted to have a "Pies for Partners" and sell pies and other goodies like quiche, bread pudding, rolls and sccones to benefit the dogs and cats at our shelter.  It would start before Thanksgiving and run until the end of the year.  All of the proceeds would be given to P4P.  Then I started thinking about it.

Cleveland-Heath has delicious food and their desserts, made at the restaurant,  are amazing.  I started to worry that they would be swamped, which would be great for P4P, but a ton of work for Cleveland-Heath.  But Jenny had it all planned out from the pie shells to the pick up. Her amazing family was there to help such as her sister, Jamie O'Day of Wang Gang fame, and her mom , who bakes for Josephines.  They have some seriously good restaurant blood in their family!

People came from far and wide to buy the delicious desserts and quiche.  Thanksgiving was crazy as people put their orders in to take to family dinners. Christmas was again a success.  Some people gave them as gifts, some took them to parties.  All in all they baked over 300 pies plus the other goodies for a huge donation of $6700.00 for the dogs and cats at the shelter.  Wow! That is a lot of pies!

Thank you for your kindness Cleveland-Heath!!  It really touched me that someone would do all that for the dogs and cats at our shelter.  Amazing!!
